Reporter Murphy Cobbing collected the reactions of prominent and ordinary black Americans to the speech Dr Martin Luther King when he accepted an honorary degree from Newcastle University in 1967. Newcastle University was the only UK University to award Dr King an honorary degree during his lifetime.
